With current post processing technology extensive manipulation of images is possible. All entries in LVCC competitions must comply with the guidelines provided by the Australian Photographic Society and endorsed by VAPS and APJA. Read the document here
Only financial club members are eligible to enter
You may enter up to 3 images (digital or print) with a maximum of 2 digital images
Photos that have gained a place in previous club comps are not eligible
Score is out of 15. The judge may or may not award Merits
Sections are Open and Novice Prints & Open and Novice Digital Image
You may choose to submit photos for comment only
Competition entries may not display watermarks
Submit on a separate sheet of paper the title of your entries and your name. This is to stay with the competition steward as a means of identifying your entries only and is not seen by the judge. The appropriate Competition Entry Form can be downloaded here.
Instructions for submitting Prints
Mark print entry with title, section and LVCC only. (LVCC - (Open or Novice) - (Comp Title) - (Image Title) - No names are to appear on entries
As well as the printed image also send a digital version to the comp secretary. Please title (Print Copy - (Open or Novice) - (Comp Title) - (Image Title)
Prints can be of any size but must be mounted in a mat which does not exceed 16"x20" (40x50 cm)
To comply with VAPS rules it is preferred that the total thickness of printed images does not exceed 4mm. This means that 3mm foam board is acceptable but for VAPS interclub competitions 5mm foam board is not acceptable.
Instructions for submitting digital projected images
Each file must be in JPEG format and a maximum of 3 MB in size. Note that previously imposed pixel restriction no longer apply for LVCC comps. They may, at times, be required for external competitions, and this will be listed in the competition rules.
Images must be labelled LVCC-Novice/Open-competition title-title of image e.g. LVCC-Open-Abstracts-Bubbles.jpg No names or initials. (The .jpg automatically appears in the title when it is saved as a jpeg)
Email you digital images to Peter Grummisch by meeting night, 4th Tuesday of the month. Tag the email Return Receipt so you know they have been received.
Each member is to submit a hard copy entry form at the appropriate meeting to Peter Grummisch.
The entry form should clearly indicate either projected and/or printed entries as the case may be
If members wish to submit entries for either or both digital and print competitions, they can only submit up to three entries in total but only two of these can be digital..
To prepare your image to email:
Start button
Programs eg Photo shop / Microsoft digital Image Program
Open photo library
Select photo and open up edit window
It may be necessary to adjust image size or JPEG settings to ensure image file does not exceed 3MB.
Click Done / Save (as .jpg)
Email as an attachment to Peter Grummisch - if sending from a Mac computer include the title of your image separately in the email.
