Hi guys. It was great to see so many at our meeting last night (I counted nearly 50!) and some new faces to welcome as well (Ros, David, Colin and Tracee). We covered a lot of stuff, so I thought I might recap for those who nodded off, or who weren’t able to make it:
Trilogy Results – with our guest judge Anton Vardy from the Gippsland Art Gallery Sale (who did things a bit differently – but that’s OK – we’re adaptable!) The result will be up on the website under the Membera area soon.
Congratulations were in order for member Cheryl and her hubby Ken who are celebrating 50 years of marriage, to Nick and Donna who were married a few weeks ago, and Danielle and hubby Xave (and Nanny Sharon and Pa Anthony) who welcomed our newest and tiniest member Patrick – 6 weeks early and adorable!!
The Warragul Nationals were held recently, and Congrats again go out to Ross and Colin for gaining acceptances in the exhibition, and to Craig Drowley for his winning image of the Bald Eagle in the Digital Wildlife section – an awesome effort!
Club members have been active in the community with Theo representing the Club at Light the Night for VicRoads on the 6/5/16, and Sharon and Shirley visiting the Cancer Care Centre to celebrate 10 years of treating cancer patients locally at LRH – the images donated by club members to brighten the rooms and waiting areas look amazing – beautifully done and displayed!!
Members have also been relaxing (is there such a thing when one is lugging a 10kg camera bag thru customs??) on holidays – Sharon, Anthony and Shirley spent 2 weeks with Ian Rolfe (check out his Instagram page: iancrolfe) learning new techniques in New Zealand, Theo cruised his way to Hong Kong for a month long holiday, Deni immersed herself in the culture and traditions of Sri Lanka, India and Thailand, and Zoe has been camping and 4wd on the coast of QLD – can’t wait to see everyone’s holiday images for inspiration and of course making us jealous!!
Our new logo has been stitched out ready for anyone looking to order club uniforms – our order form has also been updated with a few new polar fleece options (better quality than the last ones) – if you’d like to order go to Panthers Career Image in Commercial Road Morwell.
An update for our club outing to Cranbourne Botanical Gardens this Sunday has been posted in the news section - there are still seats available on the bus for anyone interested.
Our next outing will be Healesville Sanctuary on the 26/6/16 – which should also be a wonderful day out (yippee there will be birdies!!!!!)
If you’re considering camera camp to Kilcunda in August, or Wilsons Prom in November you need to think about booking and paying now – see Club Events page for more info.
A big thanks to Nick for his presentation on Night / Low Light Photography and Star Trails – his fascinating images of stars, and lightning and lights generated a huge amount of interest around the room and we’ll attempt to do more of this over the coming year!!
Great job Kirstie putting together the slideshow from our club outing to Den of Nargun – 25 members explored and captured a great selection of shots in another gorgeous part of Gippsland we are blessed to have in our own backyard!!!
INTERCLUB ENTIRES ARE DUE AT THE JUNE MEETING – 4-5 PER PERSON – MUST BE TAKEN IN GIPPSLAND – PLEASE SUBMIT - YOU ARE ALL PRODUCING AMAZING WORK AS SEEN IN THIS MONTHS TRILOGY COMP – WE NEED THAT LEVEL OF WORK TO SELECT FROM FOR OUR 10 BEST IMAGES – WE NEED TO WIN FOR THE 3RD YEAR IN A ROW!!!
