As you will be aware, at our next meeting we will hold a (hopefully brief) annual general meeting. As well as receiving a range of reports on our club an important part of this meeting is to select office bearers and committee members for the 2017 year. When you as members selected our current committee, those appointments are valid for 12 months and that period expires at our next meeting. Consequently all positions held become vacant, and it is up to the members to select a new team to lead the club in 2017.
At this stage, all committee members, with one exception, have indicated their willingness to serve the club in their current capacities for another 12 months. Frances Westbury on the other hand, after long and sterling service as our Treasurer, has indicated she would like a break, which I think we would all agree is well deserved. More about that at the November meeting.
In summary then the situation is as follows:
- All positions become vacant at the AGM
- Julie Fletcher has been nominated as our new Treasurer and she has confirmed her availability for this important position
- All other committee members have made themselves available for a further 12 months
- All appointments will be made by a vote of the members at the AGM
Notwithstanding the above, any member may be nominated for any position on the committee and we would certainly want to hear from any member who would like to nominate another (willing) member to a committee position. Further, if any member would like to nominate themselves for a role on the committee (many hands make light work) please do so.
Keeping things simple we will accept such nominations, preferably by email to either Sharon Slocum or myself no later than 6 pm on Monday 21 November, 2016.
