Subject definition: Images submitted must feature a natural subject such as animals, plants, or details of the earth’s natural environment. While minimal post processing such as cropping and changes to exposure and colour balance are allowed, drastic changes to the authenticity of the image such as removal of composited elements are not. Evidence of human presence are allowed provided they do not intrude on the main subject and do not interfere with the subjects natural behaviour.
Land, Sea and City Scapes - due at the 23 February meeting - Judge’s feedback at 23 March meeting
Subject definition: Images in this category should depict the character, atmosphere, and visual essence of natural landscapes, seascapes, or urban environments, where the land, sea, or city itself is the dominant subject and the composition conveys a sense of place, scale, mood, or environment. Human, animal, or architectural elements may be included where they support the overall portrayal of the land, sea, or city, but they should not become the principal subject of the image.
Macro and Close Up - due at the 27 April Meeting - Judge’s feedback at 25 May meeting.
Subject Definition: Images should feature a small subject or detail photographed at close range, revealing textures, patterns, structures, or features not readily appreciated by the naked eye, with the subject occupying a significant portion of the frame and forming the dominant visual interest.
Architecture - due at 22 June meeting - Judge’s feedback at 27 July meeting
Subject Definition: Images must have architecture as the dominant subject, showcasing the aesthetic, functional, historic, or creative qualities of buildings or other constructed structures. Both interior and exterior architectural subjects are eligible, provided the architectural content is the principal focus of the image.
Open - due at 24 August meeting - Judge’s feedback at 28 September meeting
Subject Definition: All genres and themes allowed.
Photo of the Year (POTY) - due at 26 October meeting - Judge’s feedback at 23 November meeting
